St Adwena at Advent
The 13th century church of St Adwena at Advent serves some 70 households scattered on and around the moor. The church itself is situated close to Tresinney in a field at the end of a narrow track; the number of footpaths that meet at the church gives clues to its importance to those who worked on the land.
Now walkers, dogs and other visitors find a welcoming place to rest a while and soak in the peace of this special place that has been prayed in for generations.
The church is always open and refreshments are freely available. St Adwena is a corporate member of The Prayer Book Society and is part of the Celtic Quiet Places project. To find out more, visit celticquietplaces.com.
