Who we are
This website is published by the Camel-Allen Churches, a benefice of five Church of England parish churches in North Cornwall: St Julitta, Lanteglos; St Thomas of Canterbury, Camelford; St Adwena, Advent; St Tetha, St Teath; and St John the Evangelist, Delabole.
The Parochial Church Councils (PCCs) of the benefice are responsible for parish administration. For questions about this policy or your personal information, please use our contact page. A member of the ministry team will respond.
What this policy covers
It covers information collected through this website — especially the contact form — and information you give us by telephone or email using the numbers published here. It does not replace the Church of England’s wider guidance on parish records, or our safeguarding commitments.
Information we may collect
Depending on how you contact us, we may receive:
- Your name, email address, and telephone number
- The type of enquiry (for example a wedding, christening, funeral, or general question) and your message
- Any dates, churches, or pastoral details you choose to include
- Limited technical information created when you visit the site, such as your IP address, browser type, and pages viewed. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs to keep the site secure and working.
We do not ask you to create an account, we do not take payments on this site, and the contact form does not add you to a newsletter or mailing list.
How we use it
We use personal information to:
- Reply to your enquiry and offer pastoral or practical follow-up
- Arrange worship, life events, and parish activities when that is why you have written
- Keep the website available, secure, and accurate
We rely on our legitimate interest in running parish ministry and, where you write to us, on the fact that we need your details to respond. If your message concerns a wedding, funeral, or similar, we may also need to keep information for church registers and lawful parish administration.
Sharing
Messages are seen by members of the ministry team and, where needed, by church officers (for example a churchwarden or Parish Safeguarding Officer) so that we can help you properly.
We do not sell your information. We may share it if the law requires us to, or if a safeguarding concern means we must notify the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser or statutory agencies. See our safeguarding page.
The website is hosted by a third-party provider. They process limited technical data in order to serve the pages. If you follow a link to Facebook, the Diocese of Truro, Google Maps, or another external site, that organisation’s own privacy policy applies.
Cookies, maps, and other sites
We do not use advertising cookies, and we have not added a separate analytics service to this site. Opening a church map may load map tiles from OpenStreetMap (Leaflet) or, where a key is configured, Google Maps. Those providers may set their own cookies or collect technical data. Directions links open Google Maps in a new page.
Our Facebook group is run on Meta’s platform. Anything you post or share there is subject to Facebook’s terms and privacy policy.
How long we keep it
We keep contact-form and email correspondence for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and any reasonable follow-up. Some parish records (for example marriage or baptism registers) must be kept for much longer under Church of England and civil rules. If you are unsure what we hold, please ask via the contact page.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or — in some cases — ask us to delete it or limit how we use it. To do so, use the contact page.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection: ico.org.uk.
Children
This website is for the whole parish, including families. We do not use the contact form to collect children’s information for marketing. If a message includes details about a child (for example a christening enquiry), we treat it with care and only use it for that pastoral purpose.
Photographs
Photographs of our churches, churchyards, and team members appear on this site to help people find us and feel welcome. We aim to use images with appropriate permission. If you are in a photograph and would like it removed, please contact us.
Changes
We may update this policy if the website or the way we work changes. The date at the top of the page will be revised when we do.
